Job Title: Learning and Development Specialist

Position Location: Raleigh, NC. Hybrid. Must live locally. Two days a week in office. Some weeks may necessitate being in the office all week due to class schedules.

Job Summary:

The Learning & Development Specialist teaches others the knowledge and skills they'll need to be successful in their roles as members of the Coastal team such as member service and related systems, lending, account opening and maintenance, product knowledge, role-specific systems, credit union orientation, and technical skills. The role also works with managers to review training needs, updates, suggestions, and feedback.

As a key contributor to the Coastal team, your responsibilities will be:

  • (65%) Training delivery:

  • Increase levels of employee engagement and competency through delivering training of systems, applications, financial service knowledge, Coastal products, member conversations, and other trainings, as required.
  • Coordinate logistics associated with training delivery including scheduling, follow-up, and reporting.
  • Use adult learning principles, variety of delivery modes, and proven facilitation methods to assess learner needs and adjust teaching accordingly.

  • (15%) Learner monitoring and support:

  • Use a variety of assessments before, during, and after classes, to identify areas of need and adjust teaching where necessary.
  • Analyze data from partner departments to identify potential gaps and recommend training solutions.
  • Work with leadership of partner departments to provide on-the-spot training during follow-up visits and conversations.
  • Observe learners in their work environment post-class to assess knowledge retention and if objectives have been met, including communication with learners' managers.
  • For learners who work in OTJ functions, follow-up with OTJ coaches to make sure learner meets performance expectations and to address performance gaps that OTJ coaches see.

  • (10%) Update content and materials:

  • Work with team members and partner departments to provide input and updates to training materials, as well as integrating information from company projects and organizational changes.

  • (10%) Support Learning + Development key functions:

  • Using adult learning principles, variety of delivery modes, and proven facilitation methods to analyze and recommend appropriate training solutions for continuous learning opportunities for employees interacting with members.

Experience:

  • Three years of experience with training, coaching, or facilitation in a financial services or professional environment
  • Experience developing classroom training materials preferred
  • Classroom facilitation experience

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in curriculum development, education, business, or training; or four additional years of experience in lieu of degree
