Job Description
The Department of Media Communications at Saint Augustine’s University invites applications for a full-time position, with a special emphasis on strategic communication.

  • The development of Media & Communications courses and curriculum
  • Overseeing the Strategic Communication concentration, making sure that course offerings remain up-to-date and relevant and well integrated into the overall department
  • Collaborating with the chair and other faculty in the smooth operation of the Department of Media and Communications, including attending faculty and departmental meetings and assisting with activities and events sponsored by the department
  • Advising students
  • Research/creative endeavors
  • Service to Institution and community
  • Maintain some level of professional activities in the field

Saint Augustine’s University (SAU), drawing on its rich legacy as an access institution, is a student-focused, comprehensive educational institution that produces outstanding graduates prepared for personal and professional success. SAU was established in 1867 in Raleigh, NC by the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina. A four-year liberal arts university with an average enrollment of approximately 1,000, SAU sits on 105 lush acres just north of Downtown Raleigh, NC. The institution offers more than 20 undergraduate degrees and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) Program and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).

Required Qualifications
A Ph. D. in a communications-related field is preferred. However, candidates with a master’s degree and regionally or nationally recognized professional experience will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
The successful candidate will have both strong writing skills, deep knowledge of the strategic communications field and a dedication to teaching at an undergraduate level. Experience in both teaching and professional work in the strategic communications is desired.
